A very unusual chair with quarter cut oak seat and back rest and decorative wrought iron legs and back rest support. Adjustable seat and back rest. My best guess is that it was a late 19th C. photographers chair. From an old store in Brockville. See following photo for details of back.

An early pair of casement windows with their original frame, hinges and slide bold hardware. Window like these with off set mullions are typical of early 19th C. construction in the Brockville area. They still retain their original rippled glass. Four other sets are available though they do not have their complete frames and neither are they so colourfully painted!

An exceptional door with original rosewood graining on one side and old yellow ochre paint on the other side. Great details with double raised panels (see following picture). Note unusually wide cross stile (21" one piece). From an early home north of Kingston the style pre dates the more common Georgian and exhibits a Sheraton influence. Ca. 1820. Just in (May 20)! I don't find many doors like this - double dome upper panels, original hardware with key (door bell missing but can be replaced!), and in great older faded green and white exterior paint. Inside paint is in good condition - creamy white, beige. Paint is over a weathered surface which, from my point of view, is very pleasing but could be made more level and over painted (not my preference!). See following detail of hardware.

Tin sheets with a very nice pattern and, to some, a great old crusty/rusty surface. There are about 16 sheets of 2' X 4'. Besides the obvious use as a back splash, counter face, they can also be folded into a 2' h. X 1' w. box or urn.

Pictured here are two exterior window shades. You can still see them sometimes, usually bigger, on the outside of bungaloes and mobile homes built in the early 50's. I sold one (I still have four in stock) to a person who made a funky lampshade out of it. The duck whirly gig is of the same vintage but decidedly more "folky" then "funky"!

One of a set of six carved pine capitals to columns from the St. Vincent de Paul convent in Brockville, Ont. Four are nearly full round with a small flat area where they rested against a wall and two are 3/4 round where they were postitioned into a corner. They have been separated from their original posts, which I still retain. The following two pictures show the four and the two respectively. They are excellent quality, in original varnish, and each capital is carved differently and with great skill. Sold

A section of flat iron railing found in Gananoque, ca. 1875. This style of railing I have found almost exclusively in the area between Gananoque and Smith Falls. It survives here and there as fence and as an architectural accent on roof peaks.

Two pairs of curved top shutters and a Queen Anne window with original glass (mirror added) makes an interesting and artistic assemblage. Balleycanoe has many Queen Anne windows similar to this one and hundreds (maybe more then a thousand) shutters available to make your own unique "sculpture". Set of Six Interior Six Panel Doors

A set of six panel doors from a home in Newborough, Ont., ca. 1810. All with original hardware - rim locks (Carpenter, Improved Rim Locks, and some locally (?) made), strikers, Georgian brass knobs, escutchions, and bezels (the bezels are the smallest but rarest of the above hardware!). The condition of all six doors is excellent with most or all being near paint ready. All the hardware is working though some intelligent tinkering may be required with some. Sizes range from about 34" X 83" (+/-). All doors are very close to original size when made. A set in this condition and age is a very rare occurance. SOLD

The door and window trim pictured here came from a home in Kingston near Queen's University. The carvings, though simlar in pattern, show variations that would be expected when done by hand. There is enough to do several rooms. In my 20 plus years in this business I have never had the opportunity to own such material. The trim, in my opinion, is both very rare and quite exceptional. They are in lengths from 2' to 7' and include both horizontal and vertical segments. SOLD

One of a set of four Gothic windows from a small country church near Brighton, Ont. Each window is made up in a patchwork fashion with different stained and textured glass giving them a folk art quality that is quite unique.

A customer sent me this picture showing how she created an arbour using half round wagon wheel rims. You need to look closely to see how it works. I think it is a very successful use of found material. Note as well the stove pipe collar hanging on the fence.

High winds in late August nearly blew my original 1860's cupula over. Four hours of energetic and skilled labor corrected the problem. Many thanks to Chris Newman (Innovative Carpentry) and his energetic "young lads" (as they say in E. Ont.). They will be back later this fall to repair the barn roof.
